4 Months To Go - Time to Kick It.
Sunset Beach, NC - With just four months left for training, it's time to get serious about my schedule. Coach Jeff and I worked out a plan to increase my rucking mileage by one mile per training block. Each training block consists of three days straight of running/rucking with 25 lbs, so typically a Sat/Sun/Mon or Sun/Mon/Tues. I've got to get used to the soreness of strapping on the rucksack and just going. And this only happens with consistency and practice. So all my other workouts have to take a back seat to this schedule, but of course, there are other events such as the Frosty Fifty next week week (Jan. 3), the Mt. Afton Challenge the week after, and the F3 Gremlin Event (a four hour boot camp) at the end of January. Plus my regular workouts with Jeff and swimming workouts during the week...and being present for my family and my consulting clients. All I can do is focus on the present with achieving small milestones, one step at a time. The last two weeks back and two weeks forward look like this:
Dec. 11 - 12: Kannonball 31, the 24 hour (turned 31 hour) ultra event I organized for F3. Made it to 90 miles before knee gave out. It was an awesome event with lots of great brotherhood moments, and Cheryl came out and ran with me as well.
Dec. 27-29: Sunset Beach three-day rucking sequence of 12 miles a day
Jan. 3: Frosty Fifty, a 50k/31.5 mi run around Salem Lake, NC
Jan. 4-5: Two-day rucking sequence of 13 miles a day
Jan. 9-11: Mt. Afton Challenge (2 hr max effort F3 Rucking Event), then two-day rucking sequence of 14 miles a day
